St Paul Trail – Self-Guided Trekking Tour

This continuous trek starts on the shores of lake Eğirdir and follows parts of the eastern branch of the long distance walk from Antioch in Pisidia (Yalvaç) deep in the Taurus mountains to Perge. The trek allows you to immerse yourself in the way of life of the inhabitants of the old stone and timber villages along the route; you will frequently stay in village houses, see the local handcrafts, watch cheese and yoghurt making and enjoy the tasty village foods. The trip includes a visit to the major Roman city of Selge as well as many opportunities to look at bulbs and birds during the walks. Our trail follows beautiful sections of Roman roads and migration routes in use since Roman times (and perhaps even walked by st Paul himself!) in this spectacular area of forests, canyons, rivers and peaks.

St Paul Trail – Self-Guided Trekking Tour

This tour takes in many of the natural and cultural highlights of the trekking route,  and additionally the tour takes you to the stunning site of Sagalassos and the breathtaking summit of Mt Sivri which we felt were unmissable for visitors to the area, and also an optional visit to Psidian Antioch can be included. All transfers and baggage transit are included, as are meals when there are no effective choices.  When a selection of  local restaurants is locally available we leave this free for you to choose the best of the local cuisine. Our accommodation selections vary from smart boutique hotels to simple village guest houses with wonderful home cooking. The route takes in the most varied walking possible, from mountain peaks to dense natural forest, from the high plains to the deepest canyons, passing the most unusual geological formations and spectacular archaeological sites, and ancient paved roads perhaps walked by the apostle himself!

Trekking the Köprülü Canyon

This 8 days self-guided walking tour on the St Paul’s Trail follows the Köprülü Canyon from south to north. Walks are on waymarked paths, with spectacular views over the huge canyon, through forest and villages and meadows. In places the route is on Roman road; it passes historical sites at Selge, Asartepe and Adada and natural formations at Delisarnıç. The route ends  at the lovely 40 km long lake in Eğirdir.

When to walk: between 15 April-30 October.
