In March, a long-distance walker started from the Lycian Way to walk northwards on the Via Eurasia to Istanbul and then to Europe. Using the app, and taking photographs and videos as he walks, Nicolas is pitching his tent wherever comes to after a day’s walk. At first the weather was a little cold and wet, but now, after 10 weeks on the route, summer is coming. Nicolas is taking the route slowly, stopping partly for work purposes, partly to enjoy local culture. After the connection from the Lycian Way, meeting the St Paul Trail at Kozan

From Pednelissos, he turned north to Eğirdir, where he spent some time with İbrahim at the Lale pension close to Lake Eğirdir.
From the St Paul Trail, he crossed the Sultan Dağlar to Çay and to Bolvadin – a difficult and uncertain path, beset by shepherd dogs. From Bolvadin onwards, the route enters the land of fairy chimneys, and he soon started on the Phrygian Way. Here he spent some time at the focus of the route at Midas Han, before continuing north to Alanyurt before continuing to Kütahya and the Evliya Çelebi Way.
He has now passed İnegöl and is continuing northwards.
His comments on the route – in some places difficult – in some places he has diverted to see something or find food or accommodation – as he approaches Istanbul he comments on the plastic pollution in the countryside. But he is persevering. At. this stage, the route is not easy – Nicolas is a pioneer and is providing us with a huge amount of feedback.

We wish him well on his remaining journey.
