HIKE4ALL – “Hiking for ALL along the Cultural Routes” is officially launching in January 2026 as a new Erasmus+ project aimed at creating inclusive and accessible hiking experiences along Europe’s leading cultural routes.

This new initiative is a natural continuation of the 2024–2025 HIKE project – “Hiking for a Healthier Lifestyle along European Cultural Routes” – coordinated by the Culture Routes Society (CRS/KRD). Following the successful implementation of HIKE in Italy, Greece, and Türkiye, HIKE4ALL expands this vision across a broader European network with a stronger focus on accessibility and inclusion.

After the HIKE Project: What We Achieved in 18 Months

Funded by the Erasmus+ Sport Programme, the HIKE project connected Europe’s major long-distance walking routes with healthy living, cultural heritage, and active tourism.

Led by the Culture Routes Society, in partnership with EAVF and Paths of Greece, the project delivered:

  • Hikes, cultural events and workshops along the Via Francigena, the Via Egnatia and the Tolerance Way.

  • Participation of around 1,000 people in walks, workshops and cultural activities.

  • Evidence that regular walking is an accessible, feasible, and highly motivating physical activity.

  • Educational videos, instructional materials, and multilingual training resources made available online.

  • International recognition from institutions including UN Tourism, Europeana, Interreg Europe and the Council of Europe, along with nominations for major tourism and sports awards.

These strong results provide a solid foundation for the launch of HIKE4ALL.

A New Phase with HIKE4ALL: Hiking for Everyone

HIKE4ALL significantly expands the project’s scope by bringing together six cultural routes across Europe:

  • Via Francigena, Piedmont (Italy)

  • Camino de Santiago (Spain)

  • St. Olav Ways (Norway)

  • Saints Cyril and Methodius Route (Czechia)

  • St. Paul Trail (Türkiye)

  • Templars’ Route (France)

The new project places accessibility, inclusion, and equal participation at its core.

Throughout the project:

  • Dedicated solutions will be provided for people with disabilities, individuals with special needs, and vulnerable groups.

  • Accessible trails, activities and training sessions will be developed.

  • Communities will be engaged with nature, culture and healthy lifestyle practices.

  • Social impact will be strengthened across different European regions.

Türkiye Event in 2026: Join Us in Eğirdir

As part of HIKE4ALL, each partner country will host a long-weekend event. The Türkiye event will be coordinated by the Culture Routes Society.

Highlights of the Türkiye edition:

  • Location: Isparta – Eğirdir

  • Trail: Around Lake Eğirdir

  • Local Partners: ZİÇEV (Foundation for the Training and Protection of Mentally Disabled Children) and Eğirdir Municipality

  • Focus: Accessible hiking experiences, nature-based activities, inclusive workshops, and community engagement

With its stunning lake views and rich natural landscape, Eğirdir offers an ideal setting for people with diverse needs to walk safely and joyfully along a cultural route.

Project Partners

HIKE4ALL is implemented through the collaboration of six strong European institutions:

  • Fundación Camino Lebaniego – FCL (Spain)

  • IALE – Saints Cyril and Methodius Route Association (Czechia)

  • ACSOW – St. Olav Ways Association (Norway)

  • CRS/KRD – Culture Routes Society (Türkiye)

  • TREF – European Federation of Templars’ Route (France)

  • Coordinator: EAVF – European Association of the Via Francigena Ways (Italy)

A More Inclusive Future on Europe’s Cultural Routes

HIKE4ALL is not just a project—it marks the beginning of a new approach on Europe’s cultural routes:
Accessible for all. Safe for all. A cultural walking experience for everyone.

As CRS, we aim to develop good practices through the Türkiye event that will inspire the broader European network.

Further details and registration information will be shared in the upcoming months.
