We are pleased to announce the launch of the HIKE project’s website today! This new initiative from Culture Routes Society and its partners aims to guide participants along three iconic European trails in Türkiye, Italy and Greece, promoting healthier and more active lifestyles through tailored hiking events for all fitness levels. The new website offers comprehensive information about free excursions and activities planned across the three participating countries. Visitors will find trail maps, event schedules, and registration forms in the dedicated sections. The news section provides updates, insightful articles, and educational content on healthy living, while the media section will feature photos and videos from our walking events.

In partnership with Culture Routes Society, the project also includes:

Paths of Greece: A Social Co-operative Enterprise dedicated to promoting Greece’s cultural heritage and environmental conservation through hiking trails. They focus on designing, implementing, and promoting trails based on historical footpaths, tailored to modern needs.

European Association of the Via Francigena ways (EAVF): Dedicated to promoting the historic route of the Via Francigena spanning over 3,000 km across England, France, Switzerland, and Italy.

The project’s hiking schedule includes:
September in Italy on the Via Francigena: Discover the picturesque path in Italy’s sunny Apulia region. Two hiking weekends will take place on coastal segments from Bari to Monopoli and from Torre Canne (Fasano) to Brindisi. These events will feature cultural, sports, and gastronomic activities, as well as unforgettable sunset celebrations. Find more details on the Via Francigena agenda here.

October in Greece on the Via Egnatia: Walk along the historic Via Egnatia in Greece, tracing the remnants of this ancient Roman road. Explore sections covering Edessa, Prophitis Ilias, and Arnissa, with beautiful waterfalls, interactive workshops, and cultural visits to significant industrial heritage sites. November in Türkiye on the Tolerance Way: Experience diverse landscapes that have shaped civilizations, from urban historic districts to rural terrains. The events will feature many landmarks, including historic neighborhoods in Izmit city center, stunning views in Beş Kayalar Nature Park, the trenches of the War of Independence in Servetiye, and ancient aqueducts near Gölkay Park.
